Nikki
Gallos is an energetic, captivating, and compelling
artist emerging from Vancouver’s music scene. Backed
by a tight and versatile rhythm section consisting
of drums, bass and guitar, the group seamlessly
floats between genres and provides an emotional and
uplifting experience. With a blend of east coast
soul, roots, funk, and one drop reggae idioms, they
provide sonic landscapes for a diverse range of
lyrical topics. Love, loss, celebration, and
reclamation shine from the intimate stories
harboured within the songs. Whether one listens,
becomes introspective, or shakes their junk on the
dance floor, this group is worth checking out.
The band was
formed in 2003 by vocalist Nikki Gallos, and
guitarist / producer Chris Guy. During that time,
Gallos was an aspiring singer / songwriter, while
Guy was engineering with Roger Swan (k/os). After
two years of touring throughout BC, they performed
and connected with drummer Liam MacKenzie (Parkside
Jones) in Tofino during an impromptu performance.
With MacKenzie on board, they called bassist and
longtime friend Darren Parris (Daniel Powter,
Soulstream, Kia Kadiri, Bocephus King) to record on
their upcoming CD. Not only did the session produce
inspired recordings, it forged a vibrant, creative
relationship between the artists.
