Guerrilla Funk Monster is a
four piece original band with an experimental
musical style that blends rock, blues, funk, punk,
reggae, and world music in such a unique way that it
is hard to categorize. They simply cannot be defined
by just one genre. Their eclectic mix of songs
provides the audience with diversity, intensity, and
creative musicianship.
THE ONE THING THAT REMAINS
THE SAME IS THAT THEY KEEP PEOPLE CAPTIVATED ON AND
OFF OF THE DANCE FLOOR ALL NIGHT LONG WITH THEIR
INTENSE GROOVE-ORIENTED SOUND.
The band draws from a wide
range of influences that include: Jimi Hendrix, The
Meters, Funkadelic, James Brown, Tom Waits, The
Beatles, Pink Floyd, Faith No More, The Minutemen,
Manu Chao, Bob Marley, Fishbone, and Fela Kuti.
Guerrilla Funk Monster s current line up has been
together since 2001 and has amassed a lengthy
repertoire of more than 30 first-rate originals, a
dozen solid covers, and hours of sweaty, danceable
jams. They have an extremely strong presence on
stage and exhibit a seemingly endless amount of
energy regardless of whether they are playing their
first song or their last. This dogged determination
has allowed the band to play nearly 200 shows in
over 50 cities. Since the spring of 2002, they have
completed one extensive coast-to-coast tour and have
toured regularly between the west coast and southern
Ontario. Aside from playing all across Canada from
Vancouver Island to Newfoundland.
